Suffering through Kansas City’s summertime heat offers up the perfect opportunity to explore some new ways to eat my favorite ice cream treats. Thankfully, I didn’t have to look far for two perfectly paired sweets to add a punch to the standard sundae and shake.
When it comes to recipes, I live by one mantra — Keep It Stupid Simple. There’s literally nothing easier than these two-step recipes for sweet snacking. To start, I gathered a pint of Shatto’s Classic vanilla ice cream and the new Sweet Kiss Brigadeiro milk chocolate brigadeiro spread.
For the sundae, scoop your ice cream into a bowl while popping the spread into the microwave for about 45-60 seconds.
Give the spread a quick stir then glob or drizzle onto your ice cream. A little of this sweet treat goes a very, very long way for flavor — so save yourself the extreme sugar rush and keep it somewhat light.
Is a shake more your style? Scoop the entire pint of ice cream straight into your blender, then add a couple scoops of the brigadeiro spread. The spread will get a bit tacky with the cold, so be sure to start blending as quickly as possible. Blend until smooth with bits of brigadeiro, then transfer to a glass.
This unbelievably delicious combo dresses up ice cream classics with an unexpected new flavor. Plus, there’s no better way to enjoy your Kansas City summer than by exploring some delicious local brands.
